Comments from a first time author

This publishing business is quite exciting really. It has all sorts of spin offs that I never expected:

• The local shop, The Book Worm, has given pride of place to advertising my book using some great artwork from Book Guild.(see photos opposite)

• Even more exciting I noticed that Amazon have a book rating called ' Sales Rating'. I don't now how its calculated or what it really means but the quote from Amazon was: "As an added service, on the page which displays the item's details we include the title's ranking with respect to the top selling 100,000 titles on the website. The lower the number, the higher the sales for that particular title."

• Although this did not mean much to me, the facts are my publication date was 27th March and a few days after the figure was about 114,000. Over the following weekend it improved thro' 80,000 to 60,000 then to a great 40,000. It the sank back to 60,000 and now, guess what on 15th April, today, it is 8,716!! I can't quite believe it but it is really exciting.

• 16th April: Oh dear, the adrenalin pump broke, it's up to 40,000 now, still we can all dream!
